"Now is not the time to let go of the guard."

While the Covid-19 figures have been decreasing steadily and then stagnating slightly in recent weeks in the Pays-de-la-Loire region, this is no longer the case everywhere.

This Thursday, the regional health agency (ARS) called on the population to be “vigilant” as the incidence rate rose above the symbolic bar of 50 in two departments.

In Maine-et-Loire, it reached 51.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and rose to 55 per 100,000 in Mayenne.

Situations taken as an example by the government spokesperson Gabriel Attal this Thursday morning, to justify the non-reduction of the health pass for the moment.

The over 65s concerned

In detail, it is among those over 65 that the circulation of the virus especially resumes. "The curve evolves unfavorably for this category of population, with an incidence rate of 70.5 in Maine-et-Loire and 96.8 in Mayenne", indicates Jean-Jacques Coiplet, director of the ARS. In the latter department, clusters were reported in several nursing homes but also during a tea dance, which brought together some 150 participants. "Three people were admitted recently in sheaves whereas we had not had one for a while", continues the ARS, still on the subject of Mayenne.

Across the region, the incidence rate is 40.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants with much lower indicators in Loire-Atlantique (41), Sarthe (36.9) and Vendée (22.5).

Vaccination coverage is 78%, or 3.5 points more than at the national level.
