At Mihama Nuclear Power Station Unit 3 of Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. in Fukui Prefecture, which has restarted for more than 40 years since the start of operation, a test run of an emergency diesel generator was being conducted. There was a problem that stopped.

Kansai Electric Power is reporting to the government and investigating the cause because it will not affect the operation of the reactor.

According to Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., when the Mihama Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 in operation was conducting a test run of an emergency diesel generator on the morning of the 6th, it was announced that the rotation speed of one of the two units exceeded the set speed. The alarm sounded and it stopped automatically immediately afterwards.

There are no injuries to on-site workers, and there is no impact from radioactive materials on the outside or the operation of the reactor.

This generator is for operating equipment that is important for safety by automatically starting when the supply of electricity from the outside is cut off due to an earthquake or the like. I have violated the restrictions of the nuclear power regulation committee and the prefecture.

Kansai Electric Power is investigating the cause.

Mihama Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 passed a special national examination and was allowed to be extended for up to 60 years, exceeding 40 years, and restarted in June.
