Former US President Donald Trump did not make it onto the Forbes list of the 400 richest Americans for the first time in a quarter of a century. Although Trump's fortune is estimated at 2.5 billion dollars (2.16 billion euros), like last year, the business magazine reported on Tuesday. After a 339th place in 2020, the fortune this year was no longer enough for the top 400 - he would have lacked $ 400 million. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the fortune of the former construction mogul has decreased by an estimated $ 600 million, which is mainly due to the stagnating value of real estate in metropolitan areas.

Forbes reported that Trump had consistently been part of the "most exclusive club in the nation" since 1996 (then at number 368). From 1997 to 2016 - the year he was elected - he found himself in the top half of the list. His decline began in 2016, however, and since then Trump has continued to deteriorate in the ranking - until he has now completely disappeared from the list. According to estimates, Trump was the richest in 2015, when Forbes valued his fortune at $ 4.5 billion. The following year it was $ 3.7 billion, 2017 to 2019 $ 3.1 billion.

During the presidency, Trump handed over the management of his corporate conglomerate to his sons.

The companies remained in his possession.

Trump said time and again during his tenure that the presidency would cost him billions of dollars.

Critics accused him of making a profit from the presidency.

For example, he held events at his property that media reports said were billed to the government or his Republican party.
