It is an unexpected treasure for fans of The Beatles and John Lennon in particular.

In a Los Angeles cellar, the children of journalist Ken Zeilig, of Canadian origin, have found lost interviews of their father, with the artist and his partner Yoko Ono.

After being digitized, these three 91-minute interviews were offered for auction by the journalist's family, and auction house Omega Auctions is organizing the sale today.

These bands are estimated between 23,000 and 35,000 euros.

"The attention we receive for these recordings is a true tribute to my father and his work - his extraordinary work and legacy, which changed the world," said Ken Zeilig's son Leo, according to the report. Canadian channel CBC.

Dense interview

Ken Zeilig died in 1990 and it is not known exactly when he was able to tape this interview. Described as a die-hard freelance journalist, he allegedly managed to secure this star interview between 1969 and 1970, just before John Lennon left The Beatles. “My dad was exceptionally tenacious, so if he wanted an interview, he got it. And he was using all his contacts to get it, ”explained Leo Zeilig. According to Omega Auctions, the topics covered in the interview review all the recent events in the artist's life, but also go deeper into his philosophy and his love for his wife, Yoko Ono.

If the sale of this John Lennon interview goes well, Ken Zeilig's family could take it a step further and sell other unreleased recordings from stars like Alfred Hitchcock and Audrey Hepburn.

“My father interviewed all the great cultural and political figures of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s,” says Leo Zeilig.

A treasure, therefore, which could make it possible to unearth many others!
