The steam locomotive that was operating in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture from the Taisho era to the Showa era was moved from Kyoto Prefecture, where it was exhibited, to a roadside station in the city, and will be open to the public from November.

It was relocated from 1918 to 1947 on the steam locomotive "Nagato Railway No. 101" that was currently operating in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and was nicknamed "Nagato Poppo".

After that, the vehicle was exhibited at a facility in Kyoto Prefecture, but since it closed last year, volunteers from Shimonoseki City have been working to solicit donations to pick it up locally.

The vehicle arrived at the roadside station "Hotaru Kaido Nishinoichi" in Toyota-cho, Shimonoseki City on the early morning of the 28th, was carefully unloaded from the trailer, and then installed on the exhibition rail.

At the roadside station, we will install a roof in the exhibition space of the steam locomotive and open it to the public from November 6th.

Shuji Ito, chairman of the "Nagato Poppo Protective Society" who has been working on the relocation, said, "The locals were looking forward to the return of SL. I want many people to know the local history through SL." I was talking.
