People's Artist of the RSFSR Alexander Shirvindt decided to leave the post of artistic director of the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire.

The actor told TASS about this, specifying that he had already submitted an application to the Moscow Department of Culture.

“In order to avoid rumors and speculations that have already arisen, I hasten to inform you that exactly 20 years and seven months ago, at the request of the troupe and with the blessing of the mayor's office, I took this cart, which I am carrying.

Since the limit is still limited, it is impossible to reset 87 years, I thank everyone for their patience and leave the post, ”said the artist.

Shirvindt added that he would like to continue working with the theater. 

“Of course, I still dream of appearing on my native stage in an upright position, but it depends on God and my native department (Moscow culture -

), which is looking for options for my further cooperation with the theater,” Shirvindt said.

Actor of the Theater of Satire Yuri Gorin in an interview with Gazeta.Ru said that the artistic director is leaving his post for health reasons.

“He believes that he cannot fulfill his duties fully at the age of 87.

And nothing can be done about it ... He said more than once that he didn’t want to be carried out of the theater with his feet in front of him, ”the publication quotes Gorin as saying.

Meanwhile, the director of the Theater of Satire, Mamed Agayev, did not confirm the information and told RIA Novosti that he did not know anything about Shirvindt's decision. 

“I don’t know how this information about the departure of Alexander Anatolyevich from the post of artistic director appeared.

Moreover, the Department of Culture, which also called me about this, does not know anything about it.

So I cannot confirm this information yet, ”Agayev said.

The secretary of the artistic director of the Satire Theater, Elena Grishina, in an interview with RT, also said that representatives of the theater do not have information on this issue.

RT appealed to the Moscow Department of Culture, the department promised to comment on this information later.

Alexander Shirvindt was born on July 19, 1934 into a family of musicians.

He grew up in a theatrical environment: his parents often interacted with actors.

After school, Shirvindt tried to enter the law faculty of Moscow State University, but in the end he decided to become an artist and graduated from the Shchukin Theater School.

He made his film debut with a cameo role in the 1957 film She Loves You.

In the 1960s, the artist starred in such films as "Come tomorrow ...", "Once again about love", "The Sixth of July".

Widespread fame came to him after the premiere of Eldar Ryazanov's film "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath", where the actor played one of Zhenya Lukashin's friends.

Shirvindt played roles in other popular film and television projects: "Three in a boat, not counting a dog", "The most charming and attractive", "12 chairs", "Station for two".

Since the late 1990s, he practically does not appear on the screen.

Since 1958, Alexander Shirvindt has been teaching at the Boris Shchukin Theater Institute.

Among his students are Andrei Mironov, Leonid Yarmolnik, Maria Golubkina, Natalia Gundareva and others.

Shirvindt joined the Satire Theater troupe in 1970. Prior to that, he collaborated with the Lenin Komsomol Theater (now Mark Zakharov's Lenkom) and the Moscow Drama Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. On the new stage, the actor made his debut with the role of Count Almaviva in the play by Valentin Pluchek based on the play by Beaumarchais "Crazy Day, or The Marriage of Figaro". Among the productions of different years with his participation - "Woe from Wit", "Bedbug", "Inspector General", "Schastlivtsev - Neschastlivtsev", "Ornifl", "An Ordinary Miracle" and many others.

In parallel, Shirvindt was involved in directing and script development.

In the same 1970, the premiere of the comedy "Wake up and Sing!" Took place, which he staged together with Mark Zakharov.

In 1978, Shirvindt presented his first independent directorial work - the play "The Minor" based on the play of the same name by Fonvizin, and in 1985 - the production according to his own script "Shut up, sadness, shut up ...".

Alexander Shirvindt wrote in collaboration with Arkady Arkanov, Grigory Gorin, Sergei Kokovkin and other playwrights.

In addition to plays by classics and contemporary authors, Shirvindt staged anniversary evenings and benefit performances of many of his colleagues from the Satire Theater: Valentin Pluchek, Olga Aroseva, Tatiana Peltzer, Georgy Menglet.

The artist also organized performances for the anniversaries of the venue itself.

In 2000, Shirvindt took over as artistic director of the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire.

He continued both artistic and directorial activities.

This season, the artist plays the main role in Rodion Ovchinnikov's play "Where are we? ∞! ...".

Also on the stages of the theater are five performances by Shirvindt.

The premiere of the comedy "Too Married Taxi Driver" took place back in the summer of 2003, and the master's most recent performance is a dedication to Andrei Mironov "Theatrical Striptease", first shown in March 2021.
