[Explanation] From September 24th to 26th, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam visited Chongqing. This was her first visit to Chongqing since taking office as the Chief Executive and her second visit to Chongqing.

After 42 years, she came to Chongqing again. Carrie Lam lamented the tremendous changes in the development of the mountain city.

Standing on the south bank of the Yangtze River overlooking Chaotianmen Pier, Carrie Lam recalled the experience of coming to Chongqing 42 years ago during the university summer vacation.

Back then, she took a boat to Wuhan through the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, and once disembarked at the Chaotianmen Wharf in Chongqing.

During her stay in Chongqing, she also visited Hongyan Village and tasted dumplings made by a friend in Chongqing.

After 42 years, Carrie Lam came to Chongqing again. When she stood on the viewing platform and looked at the skyscrapers and the brightly lit Yuzhong Peninsula on the opposite side, she lamented the tremendous changes in the development of the mountain city.

[Concurrent] Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

This is the first time I have visited Chongqing as the Chief Executive. It can be said that this is the first time I have visited Chongqing in an official capacity.

Of course I have been to Chongqing a long time ago, but this comparison is really strong.

I came 42 years ago, and now seeing the development of Chongqing, I think this city is full of vitality.

[Explanation] Carrie Lam said that Chongqing is a mountain city, and Hong Kong Island is also a mountain city. The two places are both high and low terrain and stacked houses. Chongqing and Hong Kong have many similarities, which makes her feel very cordial.

[Concurrent] Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

I feel very kind, because Chongqing is a mountain city, and Hong Kong Island is also a mountain city.

So we are very accustomed to it. The houses are built on top of each other, and the roads are not too flat.

So when I came to Chongqing, first of all, I had a very cordial feeling.

[Commentary] One of Carrie Lam’s visit to Chongqing is to watch the night view of Chongqing. When she stood at the Danzishi Square in Jiangbeizui and Nan'an District of Chongqing, she saw the brightly lit and starry Yuzhong Peninsula and the two river cruises lit up at night. She praised the night view of Chongqing as beautiful as the night view of Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong.

I think it is possible that Chongqing's (night scene) is brighter than Hong Kong's, very bright and very dense.

Of course Hong Kong has the beauty of Hong Kong. Victoria Harbour is really beautiful, and it is on both sides of the strait, and we also have mountains.

[Commentary] Carrie Lam said that Chongqing has mountains and waters, and has a profound history and culture.

At the same time, she also praised that Chongqing is not only a vibrant city, but also a very high-quality and tasteful city.

The development of Chongqing is really fast, so in addition, my feeling is that Chongqing is a very high-quality city, but also a very tasteful city.

Its quality is that its location advantage is very strong, which is similar to Hong Kong, which also enjoys geographical advantages.

[Explanation] In recent years, Chongqing has vigorously developed a big data intelligent industry.

After visiting Chongqing Lijia Wisdom Park, Carrie Lam said that Hong Kong and Chongqing have good room for cooperation in technological innovation and technological application.

Hong Kong has strong basic research capabilities in the fields of artificial intelligence, big data, and life sciences.

In addition, there are many universities in Hong Kong, and the cooperation between Chongqing and Hong Kong in the fields of basic research and technological application is promising.

In terms of technology applications, there is also a good room for cooperation.

Because I also looked at the construction of smart cities today, Hong Kong has strong basic research in artificial intelligence, big data, and life sciences.
