The César 2022 ceremony, which should take place in February or March, is starting to unfold.

The Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques announces that two new categories will be added to the prize list.

Membership criteria are also changing to allow better representation of French society.

Two new categories and therefore two new rewards.

The César list is enriched, in anticipation of the 2022 ceremony. The Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques announces that it will award two new compressions next year: the César for best visual effects and that for Best short film -documentary filming.

For this last price, it is more precisely a return.

The César for Best Documentary Short Film had already been awarded by the Academy between 1977 and 1991.

"Open the Academy to more diversity and youth"

12 documentary short films will be selected in this category by November.

The renowned director Raymond Depardon had received it on two occasions.

The Academy has also announced that it will change its membership criteria to become a member, and therefore vote to choose the laureates.

The objective remains "to open the Academy to more diversity and youth" to constitute a panel of voters more representative of French society and the world of cinema.

The Caesars especially want to make more room for women, hoping to achieve parity soon.
