The Zayed Center for Studies and Research, affiliated with the Emirates Heritage Club, organized a series of lectures and a poetry evening, as part of its participation in the 12th Al Ain Book Fair, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, affiliated with the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi.

The first lecture entitled "The Eye... Stories in the Writings of Travelers" was presented by researcher and historian Dr. Hamdan Rashid Al-Dara'i, and the discussion was moderated by researcher Saeed Hamad Al-Junaibi.

Al-Dara’i stressed that the city of Al-Ain has enjoyed an important position throughout the ages, as this oasis with shades and abundant water managed to captivate the hearts of those who lived in it. The writings of travelers and orientalists about the city of Al Ain, supported by historical photographs and documents that confirm the strategic, economic, political and demographic importance of Al Ain Oasis.

Among the documents presented by Al-Duraei is a file containing a single report compiled by Colonel Miles, the Political Agent in Muscat, during his visit to the area in 1875, and contains a comprehensive description of the geographical and botanical features of the area between Muscat, Al Ain and other oases, noting that Miles' report is a personal account of his impressions of the area. The monuments and hamlets in the region, their ancient origins in mythology, and what they have become in the contemporary situation, Miles also drew preliminary maps of the geographical distribution of the oases.

The lecture shed light on a number of records of the British Government of India, and the writings of British political agents, because of their importance in monitoring political and economic transformations and living conditions, and emphasizing the importance of the historical, strategic, political and cultural oasis of Al Ain.

The second lecture was entitled "The History of the Poem... Al Ain Poets Celebrate 50 Years of Creativity", in which researcher and historian Dr. Rashid Ahmed Al Mazrouei, poet and media figure Butti Al Mazloum Al Suwaidi, moderated the dialogue by poet and journalist Anwar Hamdan Al Zaabi.

As for the poetry evening, it was titled “The Eye in the Eyes of the Poets,” in which the poet Mohammed Rashid Al Shamsi and the poet Awad bin Al Sabaa Al Ketbi participated, and it was moderated by the media personality Muslim Saleh Al Ameri. the audience.

Taghrooda poets

The researcher and historian, Dr. Rashid Ahmed Al-Mazrouei, said that “the poets of Al-Taghrooda in Al-Ain are among the most prominent folk arts that have one rhyme and not more than eight verses, and have one melody in all ages and have one theme,” explaining that Al-Ain is the most fertile area in the creativity of Al-Taghrooda, and it is distinguished There are Bedouin tribes, and the tribes are the basis of Al-Taghrooda, citing Muhammad bin Ham Al-Amiri, who was a contemporary of Sheikh Zayed the Great, and he was wandering in places, and he had tweets in various types of life, then he read some of his tweets.
