A 25-year-old has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in the northeastern US state of Connecticut after he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, put her in a bag and left her to suffocate on the side of a road.
Javier da Silva Rojas pleaded guilty and told the court that he put packing tape over his girlfriend Valeria's mouth, tied her legs and hands and put them in a bag, then drove 10 miles and dumped the bag on the side of the road.
Two days after his girlfriend's disappearance, the family informed the authorities, who later discovered her body, and Rojas' DNA was found on the handles of the bag, as well as under Valeria's fingernails.
Court documents revealed that Rojas stole $5,350 from his girlfriend's bank account after her death, and stole her iPad and laptop, according to prosecutors.
