At the microphone of Isabelle Morizet in the program "There is not only one life in life" Sunday, the rapper MC Solaar looks back on his personal and professional career.

And in particular his tour in Russia, in the 1990s, where he had to obtain the agreement of the local mafias for his concerts to take place.

INTERVIEW

"A moment of chaos".

This is how MC Solaar sums up Russia at the end of the 1990s. A country where he performed when he was at the height of his career, before disappearing for ten years.

The rapper, back on the front of the stage, remembers this surprising tour on Sunday at the microphone of Isabelle Morizet on Europe 1, on the occasion of his invitation to the show

He does not have a life in life

.

"It's a bit of a risky encounter. We say 'yes, okay' and we meet again from there, in the post-glasnost, post-perestroika period," he recalls.

"Three years later, the country had returned to normal"

"It was the time when there was a disruption of this country and the mafias", sums up the artist.

To carry out his round, he must then constantly pay the criminal groups.

Otherwise, he could suddenly find himself without a stage, without electricity or without sound.

The musicians were then forced to barricade themselves in hotels.

But the artist keeps happy and amused memories of this trip.

"We went there for the trip and we met musicians, artists, chess players. We went on 15 hour train trips. I did some scouting to come back later", he recalls, a smile on his face.

"It was great because we weren't living a moment of history, but we lived a moment of chaos. Three years later, the country had returned to normal. But we arrived at the right time, without knowing it. "
