Am Sak is 437 kilometers from N'Djamena, in Batha, one of the 23 regions of Chad.
In this zone, the rains (between 150 and 400 mm per year) are insufficient and too irregular to cultivate.
It is therefore a breeding area.
For many months, water is needed for hygiene and consumption by families, and water for watering livestock.
A pastoral station is created to meet this vital need.

In reality, this pumping station existed and relieved the breeders in difficult times.
However, over the years, we have seen the advance of the desert and the degradation of the environment.
And at the same time, the pumping station broke down.
This motivated the intervention of the Chadian Ministry of Livestock, through the Regional Support Project for Pastoralism in the Sahel.
