The development of Hong Kong and the country are closely linked. As the country's development blueprint and action plan for the next five years, the national "14th Five-Year Plan" will undoubtedly have an important impact on Hong Kong's development.
He pointed out that, as the legislature of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Legislative Council is responsible for supervising and cooperating with the Special Administrative Region Government to implement the relevant measures of the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan as soon as possible, including reviewing and approving fiscal budgets, approving taxation and public affairs based on the proposals of the Special Administrative Region Government. Liang Junyan also stated that the Legislative Council attaches great importance to support for Hong Kong’s promotion of its status as an international financial, shipping, trade center and international aviation hub, and support for Hong Kong’s construction of an international innovation and technology center. Speaking of expectations for the new term of the Legislative Council, Liang Junyan said that after improving the electoral system, the election of the new term of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Election Committee was successfully completed.
He believes that the Election Committee will select patriotic and Hong Kong people who have both ability and political integrity to become members of the new Legislative Council.
