An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 on the Richter scale was recorded on Friday evening in Guadeloupe, according to the European Seismological Center.

The earthquake, recorded at 11:12 pm local time, lasted a few seconds and was felt in several municipalities of the archipelago as "one or more tremors", according to testimonies posted on social networks.

According to the European Seismological Center, the epicenter was located 55 kilometers north of Moule (commune of Grande-Terre), 45 kilometers deep.

After this earthquake, which occurred two weeks after an earthquake of almost equivalent intensity in the archipelago, it was not possible to immediately identify any damage.

On September 9, an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 on the Richter scale had, in fact, been felt at 8:43 p.m. local time, according to the seismological observatory of Guadeloupe.
