The death of a young man due to soft drinks.. his liver was destroyed within 10 minutes

The soft drink caused fatal damage to the young man

A 22-year-old Chinese man died after drinking a 1.5-liter bottle of soda in 10 minutes to help hydrate his body during hot weather. The gases built up inside his intestines before seeping into other parts of his body, destroying his liver and causing him to die.

According to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”, doctors confirmed that the rapid consumption of the soft drink led to the accumulation of deadly gases inside the young man’s body, which deprived the liver of oxygen and eventually killed him.

Doctors at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital said that the young man drank the drink too quickly, causing gas to accumulate in his intestines, which, due to pressure, leaked into the portal vein, one of the main blood vessels in the liver, causing fatal damage.

Tests on the man when doctors first evaluated him showed several worrisome signs, as he had a high heart rate and low blood pressure and was breathing rapidly when he arrived at the hospital, although he had no previous chronic health problems.

CT scans found that the man had pneumonia, with abnormal gases in the intestinal wall and portal vein, and the scan also revealed hepatic ischemia, also called "liver shock," a type of injury caused by low oxygen.

Doctors immediately proceeded to try to remove gases from the man’s digestive system, and he was given medication to help protect his liver and try to improve his body functions, but after 12 hours, blood tests showed that the man suffered from serious liver damage, and his condition rapidly deteriorated and he died 18 hours later.
