Her account was hacked .. The arrest of a young man who tried to blackmail an American girl through the "Snapchat" application

An official with the Federal Investigation Agency in Pakistan announced today, Friday, that a Pakistani youth has been arrested after receiving a report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that he blackmailed an American girl via the Internet after hacking her account on the "Snapchat" application.

Tahir Khan, the local head of the Federal Investigation Agency's cybercrime division, said the arrest took place in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar last week after receiving a tip-off from the FBI that the young man had blackmailed an underage girl from Virginia.

Khan added that the young man, a university student, hacked the girl's account on the "Snapchat" application on the first of last June, and was able to access her personal photos, which appear in some of them while she is naked.

He continued by saying that the young man was asking the artist to send more nude pictures and have a video chat with him through his account on the "Instagram" site since he hacked her account.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that the girl's attempt to disable her private account on "Snapchat" had failed because the social networking company that owns the application, did not respond to her request.

The Pakistani youth faces five charges, including child pornography and criminal intimidation.

The penalty may be up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Several Pakistani citizens have been arrested in recent years after reports were received from Western agencies specialized in combating cybercrime, as most of these reports are linked to alleged links to the so-called dark web of child pornography.
