As the infection of the new coronavirus spreads, a piano that anyone can play freely is installed in front of the ticket gate of the station in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture, so that people can feel the peace of mind through music. I am enjoying.

This initiative was planned by Tokorozawa City, which is promoting "town development with music" to energize the city with music, and the piano was installed in front of the ticket gate of Tokorozawa Station on the Seibu Railway on the 3rd of this month.

In September of last year, the renewal of Tokorozawa Station created a new open multipurpose space in front of the ticket gate, and the city was considering making it a place where you can hear the tone of the piano.

Under these circumstances, the city coordinated with Jun Nakagawa, who runs a local real estate business, who had indicated his intention to donate a piano, and this project was realized.

On the first day when the piano was installed, a concert was held, and the piano was played in front of a group of local fifth grade boys and female staff at Tokorozawa Station, who were selected by open recruitment.

The boy in elementary school who finished the performance said, "I played because I thought it wouldn't make a good sound. It was fun and a good experience for many people to listen to."

The piano can be played freely by station users, and after the concert, people visit one after another, and you can see small children hitting the keyboard and enjoying the sound, and playing while holding a baby. Was done.

A local woman in her thirties who was listening said, "I heard it for the first time, but the gentle tone of the piano healed my heart."

Mr. Nakagawa, who donated the piano, said, "I myself have been saved by music many times and I think that music has great power. This place where the tone of the piano echoes is a little energetic for many people. I would be happy if it could be a place full of smiles by giving various things such as healing and healing. "

The piano is scheduled to be installed until the 29th of this month, and to prevent infection of the new corona, the playing time is up to 5 minutes, and it is required to disinfect the hands before and after the performance.

In addition, it is being considered that the installation will be extended after the 29th.
