Officials said the gangster was hit by six bullets and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The killers disguised as lawyers were shot dead by police inside the courtroom.

Authorities said they were members of a rival local gang, but their names have not yet been released.

And the British newspaper, Daily Mail, published a video clip documenting the moments of violence witnessed by the court, after the killing of Gogi inside the courtroom during the sentencing session.

The two gunmen succeeded in killing the man inside the cage, but soon the police killed them at the scene of the accident after the two sides exchanged fire, and chaos erupted inside the court.

It is reported that Gogi, who was the most wanted gangster in Delhi, was arrested and brought to court for his involvement in a murder case.

Gogi was born and raised in and around Delhi, although he was not a career criminal - as a young man he attended Delhi University where he was described as a "bright and promising" student.

But he dropped out of school after his father died in 2010, according to the Times of India, and began dealing in property before he became a criminal.

He quickly transitioned from ownership to a life of crime, and was first arrested for shooting a man in 2010.

Later that same year, he was implicated in another attempted shooting, this time during the Delhi University elections.

He was arrested for this attack in 2011, and since then - according to the police - he has devoted himself to criminal activities.
