• The University of Nantes is organizing, until Friday evening, a job dating with 800 vacancies.

  • After a year of hardship linked to the health crisis, it is not so easy to find the right fit.

"Frankly, it's a hassle ..." This Thursday, morale is not at the top for Lily and Perrine. These two friends, students in L3 psychology in Nantes, despair of finding a student job for the school year that begins. However, they put all the chances on their side by going as soon as it opened to the forum organized by the university, which takes place until Friday evening and offers some 800 vacancies. “We could expect a shortage of jobs with the crisis, but this is far from the case,” observes Elsa Péneau, career and career consultant at SUIO. There are about twenty companies present and positions to be filled in different sectors: agrifood, catering, many in animation too… ”

The two friends are more interested in babysitting or supervising students.

But first problem, the schedules are not always compatible with their schedule.

“We finish three times a week at 8 pm, they say, so it's going to be difficult to find something in the long term.

Many companies are looking for the evening when we are more available in the morning.

The ideal, for them, would be to get a contract of 6 to 8 hours per week.

"We must also be able to follow our studies and still have a life on the side," observes Perrine, 20 years old.

In the meantime, my parents help me a little because even with the scholarship, it is not enough.

Driver's license requested

On the stand next door, it's not easy to find the right fit either. In Val Nantais, a market gardening cooperative that offers six order picker positions, it's not the schedules that get in the way but rather the transport. “We are looking for students on Saturdays and during school holidays, periods when they are usually available. But the big difficulty is the driving license and the vehicle, ”reports Guillaume Houdet, logistics manager for the company based in Saint-Julien-de-Concelles, 20 km from Nantes. Same requirement at Sca Ouest, the Leclerc purchasing center, which offers around fifteen positions from next week… in Saint-Etienne-de-Montluc. "Well, it's not for me," reacts a young man, a pocket full of CV in hand. It is precisely to pass my license that I need a job ... "

Despite these difficulties, employers report "very interesting profiles" among candidates who sometimes have first professional experiences to be valued, despite the fact that the health crisis reduced the possibilities last year.

A good part will be recalled in the coming days.

“You really shouldn't hesitate to apply because many sectors are having trouble recruiting this coming back to school.

This is the case for logistics, for example, where professionals have turned to more stable jobs, reports to the Samsic employment agency.

We also have very specific assignments, surveys for example, to offer to students who cannot necessarily make a long-term commitment.
