The real estate company Histoire et Patrimoine, specializing in the restoration of historical monuments and their requalification into housing, will transform the Château de Jouars-Pontchartrain (Yvelines) into a luxury residence.

The company acquired the monument in 2019 for 10.5 million euros,

It plans to fit out 110 apartments of 80 to 100 square meters.

The first building permit was easily accepted.

The second, relating to more housing, had been retoked following the concerns of local associations on the protection of the site.

Histoire et Patrimoine then filed a third request, adding several improvements, such as the preservation of bats nesting in the castle.

"Safeguarding of heritage"

"We have no reason to oppose today this modified permit which improves things", explained Philippe Emmanuel, mayor of Jouars-Pontchartrain.

The request should therefore receive a favorable opinion within two or three months.

According to the property developer, all the apartments, including around 20 social housing units, have already been sold.

They will be delivered in the second half of 2023.

Each year, Histoire et Patrimoine carries out between 20 and 30 operations of this kind in France.

Four were finalized in the Yvelines.

"This makes it possible to combine the interests of our clients with the general interest, since we participate in the safeguarding of heritage and the preservation of old trades", assured Rodolphe Albert, CEO of the company.
