The attack took place without warning: The dispute in a coach on Autobahn 9, which led to the access of a special task force on Tuesday evening and the closure of the A 9 for hours, began with a passenger attacking a fellow traveler. The bus, in which 14 Serbs were sitting, three of whom were bus drivers, was on its way to Belgrade. According to the police headquarters in Middle Franconia, a 30-year-old passenger suddenly attacked a 20-year-old who was sitting and sleeping in front of him "suddenly". The man threw the younger man on the ground and kicked his head several times.

He is also said to have slapped a 24-year-old woman in the face, and he also said “death threats and other confused thoughts” during his attacks. That is the current state of knowledge of the investigators who questioned witnesses with the help of interpreters. The twenty-year-old was later given medical care in a hospital, but was able to leave the hospital that night. The woman suffered minor injuries.

On Tuesday around 5:30 p.m., the police headquarters' operations center received an emergency call about a dispute and a “possible threat”. The bus had already stopped and was standing on the hard shoulder between the Hilpoltstein and Greding junctions. It was said that the passengers, with the exception of three bus drivers and a possibly armed man, had left the bus. The A 9 was then completely closed between the junctions in both directions, and numerous emergency services drove to the crime scene. Since it could not initially be ruled out that the man was armed, there was also the risk of being held hostage.

At around 9:30 p.m., the alleged 30-year-old suspect was finally arrested by the special task force without resistance.

The bus drivers had previously been contacted by phone and then they were able to get off the bus.

The police initially have no evidence of a hostage-taking.

So far, there have been no indications that the suspect was under the influence of "intoxicating substances".

The Nuremberg-Fürth public prosecutor's office has filed for arrest against the Serbs on “suspicion of attempted manslaughter”.

Both the travel guests and the bus drivers were said to have been "accompanied over the entire period and psychologically looked after by emergency chaplains" by police officers.

In addition, her onward journey to Belgrade was organized.
