Former pop superstar R. Kelly (54), who was accused of sexual exploitation of minors, kidnapping and bribery, does not want to testify in the process.

Kelly said in court in New York on Wednesday that he did not want to comment on the allegations against him.

His lawyers had previously indicated that a statement by the musician was unlikely.

In the process, the prosecutor had concluded their plea against Kelly on Monday after around five weeks with 45 testimony.

The four defenders of the musician then took up their plea.

They presented several witnesses who testified that they had never seen Kelly abuse women.

After the defense attorneys had finished their pleading, the prosecution's and defense's closing arguments were on the agenda before the jury had to come to a decision - at the end of the week at the earliest.

If convicted, Kelly, who has been in jail since his arrest in the summer of 2019, faces a prison sentence of ten years to life.
