• Travel influencer Monsieur Jetlag shares his discoveries on Instagram.

  • He is at the head of a community of 56,000 followers, which has been built up little by little.

  • Saturday, at the What a trip festival in Montpellier, the young man will give curious people valuable advice on using social networks when traveling.

Mr. Jetlag has been traveling the world alone for almost ten years.

Or almost.

This thirty-something, whose adventures in all corners of the planet are followed by tens of thousands of Internet users, is never far from his smartphone.

Via his blog, and, above all, his Instagram account, he shares the landscapes he meets in his journeys, his meetings, his art of living or his good food.

Saturday (4 p.m.), in the village of What a trip, the Montpellier travel and adventure film festival, the young man will give invaluable advice to travel lovers to make good use of social networks during their excursions.

"Little by little, a community has come together"

Before he became a real influencer, Mr. Jetlag, who studied in Montpellier, posted, like any other traveler, photos of his walks on the Internet. “Little by little, a community came together,” he says. At the beginning, it was not huge, 2,000 to 3,000 people. But, as it seemed to like it, I thought that maybe there was something to be created. I tried to be more present, to offer better quality photos, to interact with the community… ”And the followers poured in,“ very quickly ”, he confides. Over 56,000 today on Instagram. Not to mention the visitors to his other social networks, and to his blog.

"My goal is not to be in the prestige, but rather to show things that are affordable," he notes. Thanks to Mr. Jetlag, who has traveled around thirty countries, a good number of Internet users have tried the adventure of solo travel. “If I travel alone, it is first and foremost because I always plan my trips at the last moment, when I'm fed up with the grayness, so it's hard to find people to accompany me! », Smiles the influencer. How, without someone to hold the device, can he post so many pictures where he appears? “I ask other people, other tourists, to give me a helping hand,” he says. It is sometimes complicated. And I was sometimes a little disappointed, there were a lot of failed photos! "

If this manager of a web marketing company does not yet live 100% of his adventures on Instagram, brands regularly trust him, which allows him to "make ends meet".

The first was to promote a water bottle for sports.

“And I was super happy!

He smiles.

On Saturday, this globetrotter will deliver to the curious some of the tips that have allowed his Instagram account to grow.

“Everything counts,” says the entrepreneur.

The biography, the frequency of the posts, the hashtags, the quality of the photos, but also the mastery of the algorithms.

If playing the role of influencers tempts you, go to Mr. Jetlag's workshop.
