After a 100% virtual party in 2020 due to the pandemic, Cedric the Entertainer kicked off the 73rd Emmy Awards on CBS this Sunday evening with a musical number that parodied the Biz Markie hit "Just a Friend ”in front of 600 participants against a few thousand usually.

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has limited the number of participants, due to health and safety guidelines, as the delta variant continues to rage in the United States.

"Let me start by saying that there are far too many of us in this small room," joked Seth Rogen who presented the first trophy of the evening, broadcast in France on the night of Sunday to Monday on Série Club.

The series reigned over the ceremony with 7 statuettes including the coveted title of best drama series.

Olivia Coleman was named Best Actress in a Drama Series, while Josh O'Connor was named Best Actor in a Drama Series.

The interpreter of the latter, Gillian Anderson won the award for best actress in a supporting role for a drama series, while Tobias Menzies received the award for best actor.

Netflix's majestic series examined the midlife crisis and explored issues of parentage, inheritance, and parenthood.

A great victory for "Ted Lasso"

In the register of comedy, it is the Apple TV + series,

Ted Lasso

, which scores the maximum number of goals.

This formidable benevolent series, which chronicles the arrival of an American football coach, Ted Lasso (played and created by Jason Sudeikis) hired to coach AFC Richmond, a fictitious professional football team in London, won four awards, including the one for best comedy series.

Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein were each recognized for their performance in a supporting role in a comedy series.

The competition was particularly tough on the side of the miniseries. Kate Winslet's incredible performance in the HBO miniseries

earned her the Best Actress award. Julianne Nicholson and Evan Peters, have each been recognized for their performance in a supporting role in a miniseries. Ewan McGregor received the award for best actor in a miniseries for his incarnation of American designer Roy Halston Frowick, unknown in France, star across the Atlantic in

, a series available on Netflix.
