• In Morbihan, the only doctor on Île aux Moines had to cease her activity because she refuses to be vaccinated.

  • The 600 inhabitants of the island located in the Gulf of Morbihan are waiting for a solution.

  • The doctor assures that she has not prevented anyone from getting vaccinated but explains that "her body does not want it".

It is a charming little island, undoubtedly the best known of the no less charming Gulf of Morbihan.

Located a few dozen meters from the Port Blanc pier, Île aux Moines has been the scene of an unprecedented situation for several days.

Her only general practitioner has not been allowed to practice since Wednesday, September 15 because she is not vaccinated.

To alert his patients, Doctor Christine Hochard left a message on the answering machine of his practice, which is now closed.

On the verge of tears, she explains her refusal to be vaccinated.

“I am not an anti-vaccine, but I refuse to give in to this blackmail.

It's my body that says "no".

You can't understand, ”she explains.

Before concluding with palpable emotion: “I hope everything is going well for you.

I love you.

"My fight is above all to protect children"

Arrived in January on the Breton island, the general practitioner no longer has the right to practice in accordance with the law requiring the vaccination of caregivers.

“I have not decided to stop my activity.

It is the regional health agency which asked me, “regrets the doctor.

Questioned by our colleagues from France 3 Brittany, she assures us that "she has not prevented anyone from getting vaccinated", leaving her patients freedom of choice.

On the other hand, it was the nurse on the island who performed the injections.

She admits to being opposed to the vaccination of children and adolescents.

“Side effects for me, I'm not afraid of them.

My fight is above all to protect children.

We don't know the long-term effects of these products, ”she told France 3 Bretagne.

If the island is very close to the mainland, the absence of a doctor is however a real constraint for the population, mostly elderly and sometimes subject to regular treatments and prescription renewals.

The municipality asked the Regional Health Agency to ask for solutions to compensate for this absence.
