French fiction now dominates French television in the face of foreign competition, and in particular American, according to the new edition of the study carried out on this subject by the Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel (CSA) every year since 2009. This is a first for more than 10 years: the most watched fictions on television are all French.

This is what reveals the latest edition of a study by the Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA).

The audiovisual regulatory authority has carried out this study every year since 2009. Another novelty this year: the ranking is mostly made up of works from France Télévisions.

End of American power

The French public television group places a total of 13 fictions among the ranking of the 20 best audiences.

To the detriment of TF1.

But the private channel is still doing well: it occupies the first place in the ranking thanks to its fiction adapted from the life of Grégory Lemarchal,

Between 2009 and 2017, British and American dramas occupied a good half of the top 20 audiences.

Until 2019, the ranking of the 20 best audiences for fiction still had two to three American series.

Barring any surprises at the end of the year, it is the TF1 

HPI series 

which should come first in the 2021 ranking.
