On the 20th of Respect for the Aged Day, an event was held in Oita City to recognize long-lived dogs and cats, who are about 90 to 100 years old when converted to human age.

This event is held every year by the Oita Animal Protection Center, which is run by Oita Prefecture and Oita City, as part of its animal protection activities.

On the 20th, about 10 long-lived dogs and cats participated in the event with their owners and received a certificate of commendation on Respect for the Aged Day.

The dogs and cats awarded this time are about 17 to 21 years old, which means that they will be about 90 to 100 years old when converted to human age.

A woman who owns a 21-year-old cat said, "I am grateful that I have grown up healthy. I hope that I will continue to live longer and enjoy the time I can spend with me."

Hisashi Saeki, director of the Oita Animal Protection Center, said, "When I saw the happy faces of long-lived dogs and cats, I felt that they were being raised with love. A happy and good relationship between people and pets. I want the owners to grow responsibly until the end so that they can build. "
