The down jacket is a garment that has conquered the world, but whose creator has been somewhat forgotten: Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

The latter rejoices, against all odds, this international amnesia and explains the birth of this warm garment at the microphone of Isabelle Morizet, on the occasion of his invitation on Sunday in the show

"Today, everything exists. In the 70s, everything did not exist", euphemizes the creator about his invention.

"I created this quilted coat because I was really against fur," says Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

“I wanted to substitute that fur coat which I had a lot of ethical issues with. So I lengthened a ski jacket, then made it a classic from 1971. And Farrah Fawcett wore it in

Funny Ladies

. It really quickly became a classic. "

"I have many spiritual sons among the creators"

But is Jean-Charles de Castelbajac also at the origin of this name of "down jacket"? "I don't think so. We can't claim everything," smiles the stylist and designer. "But in any case, I have always loved to innovate, create and divert. And today I see that this path of creation has inspired a lot. I have a lot of spiritual threads among the creators."

And to continue, citing what is perhaps the most famous piece of his parades: “I see coats with teddy bears in a lot of collections, including that of Virgile Abloh, the talented designer of Louis Vuitton. has something strong when you innovate. As time goes by, we do not always remember who created it. All the same, sometimes it goes back to 30 or 40 years. But the force of ideas continues to inspire. it is fundamental. "
