After the violent death of a 20-year-old cashier at a gas station in Idar-Oberstein (Rhineland-Palatinate), the police caught a suspect.

The 49-year-old was arrested by special units without resistance on Sunday morning, said the police headquarters in Trier.

Accordingly, there was initially no information on the motives of the accused German from the Birkenfeld district.

The cashier was shot dead on Saturday by a man armed with a pistol.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator had entered the gas station in the evening and killed the cashier after a brief exchange of words. The police therefore assumed that the man had already visited the gas station an hour beforehand and initially left again after a brief argument.
