To avoid "long queues" at polling stations due to multiple people going to vote at the same time, voters can choose to go to the polls at noon or in the afternoon when there are fewer people.

  He pointed out that the polling stations of this election will use the electronic voter register system to issue ballots for the first time, in order to make relevant work more efficient and accurate.

In addition, the polling station also set up two teams for the first time: a special team for seniors aged 70 or above, pregnant women, and people who cannot stand in line for a long time due to physical conditions; the other team for other voters or authorized representatives use.

He said that after the poll, the ballot boxes in general polling stations and dedicated polling stations will be transported to the central counting station in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to count the votes.

Candidates, election agents and counting agents can enter the central counting station to observe the counting process in the designated area.

  He said that in addition to the central counting station, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center also has a press center where the Returning Officer will announce the results of all elections.

In order to maintain proper social distancing, there are about 350 public galleries this time. The Registration and Electoral Office will arrange admission for members of the public on a "first come, first served" basis from 6:30 pm on the 19th, subject to availability. .
