At around 2:40 pm on the 19th, a nearby person reported to the fire department that "a child was washed away" in the Ado River in Katsuragawahosokawa Town, Otsu City.
According to police and fire departments, an elementary school boy was swept about 400 meters, rescued by a fisherman downstream, and taken unconscious to the hospital, but was confirmed dead.
