November 4-7, the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament CS: GO Major will be held inside the Globe (Avicii arena) in Stockholm.

The organizers aim to receive about 14,000 people in the audience.

The competition is one of the really big ones in the e-sports world, with several million kronor in the prize pool.

But it was long uncertain whether the competition would end in Stockholm, or whether Sweden would be nobbed as a host country.

During the summer, the organizers behind the competition The International chose to hold the e-sports tournament in Bucharest instead.

The reason was Sweden's temporary entry ban from countries outside the EEA, which made no exception for e-sports at the elite level.

Hard criticism

Sweden's way of handling the situation received harsh criticism from both e-sports organizers and the Stockholm City Council.

Minister of Culture Amanda Lind (MP) expressed that she wanted to save upcoming e-sports tournaments that are planned to be held in Sweden, and in July the government announced a change in the temporary entry ban so that elite e-sports athletes from all over the world were allowed to come here.

The organizer PGL has delayed its response, but now it is clear that CS: GO Major will not move but will be held in Stockholm as planned.

Previous disappointment

Earlier this year, fans were disappointed when the tournament The international in the game Dota 2 was moved from Sweden due to travel restrictions.
