presents the series not to be missed this year on Arte.

For its series, Arte aims for singularity "with this kind of mantra which is always originality, diversity and Europe", as the director of fiction of the channel Olivier Wotling underlined this Thursday at the Festival de la Fiction TV de La Rochelle during the presentation of the series line-up for the 2021-2022 season of the Franco-German channel.

An overview of the very promising series that the channel has in store for us, which “continues to be Arte by going there, we don't expect it”.

Highly anticipated 2 seasons

This year, Arte will broadcast the continuation of highly anticipated series.

“We have quite a few seasons 2. On a fairly limited volume of productions, it takes up a certain place, there are always trade-offs to be made between novelties and continuity,” underlined the director of Arte's fiction.

Season 2 of

En Therapy

, due on air in 2022, takes place five years after the Bataclan attacks, at the end of the first confinement in 2020. Psychoanalyst Philippe Dayan (Frédéric Pierrot) welcomes four new patients on his couch: Ines (Eye Haïdara), a lonely lawyer with a tidy life, Robin (Aliocha Delmotte), young overweight teenager victim of harassment, Lydia (Suzanne Lindon), a student who came to share dark news about her state of health and Alain ( Jacques Weber), a business leader in the media turmoil. Divorced, sued by the family of one of his former patients, Dr Dayan turns to Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg), a colleague whose support he hopes for the ongoing trial.

The reunion with the dysfunctional and endearing family of

Mytho

, a series worn by Marina Hands and Mathieu Demy, under the sharp pen of Anne Berest and the pop and stylized gaze of director Fabrice Gobert, will take place on September 30 on Arte.tv and the October 7 and 14 on the air. In the first season, Elvira Lambert blew up her family under the weight of a lie, in season 2, "the family tries to be reconciled and explodes under the weight of the truth", summarized Anne Berest at Series Mania. A season "almost more radical, in its words, in its tone, in its universe", warns Olivier Wotling, but always so singular, jubilant, hilarious and moving.

The island thriller

Hierro

returns on October 21 and 28.

This season 2 explores the past of the explosive duo formed by judge Candela and trafficker Diaz.

The manifesto series "H24"

This collection of strong and committed European short films will be put online in full at the end of October on Arte.tv, seven will be broadcast as a bonus on the air.

The delicious fantasy "Nonna and her daughters"

In December, Arte will unveil the miniseries Nonna and her daughters.

This delicious fantasy by Valérie Donzelli features Nona, played by Miou-Miou, a 70-year-old liberated woman, mother of three 44-year-old daughters (Virginie Ledoyen, Valérie Donzelli, Clotilde Hesme), who will learn that she is pregnant .

A funny and touching tale on motherhood and the struggle of women for the right to dispose of their bodies.

The genesis of NTM in "The world of tomorrow"

In 2022, Arte will broadcast The World of Tomorrow, the series on "NTM before NTM", which will tell "the prehistory" of the legendary rap group, directed by Katell Quillévéré and Hélier Cisterne.

This 6x52 minutes will tell of the meeting between Kool Shen and JoeyStarr and will portray the two rappers coming out of adolescence in the 1980s. Through them,

The world of tomorrow

will “portray a generation” and capture “l 'youthful energy at that time'.

The confessions of a serial killer in "The Black Butterflies"

The black butterflies

, existential thriller in 6X50 minutes directed by Olivier Abbou, will follow a young novelist (Nicolas Duvauchelle), in need of inspiration, who writes the confessions of a serial killer (Niels Arestrup) over four decades.

"A pop series, which is a bit of the Italian giallo", promises the boss of the fiction of Arte.

“Winter spirit”, a closed session carried by Audrey Fleurot

Winter Spirit, an

adaptation in 3x52 minutes of the novel of the same name by Laura Kasischke, directed and co-written by Cyril Mennegun, is a winter camera carried by Audrey Fleurot.

The HPI heroine here plays a novelist, seized with a strange foreboding on Christmas Eve, the impression that, fourteen years earlier, when Alice was adopted, something had followed them home.

"Blackport", a social chronicle coupled with a ferocious farce

We can not wait to discover

Countrymen,

a creaking comedy co-produced with the Norwegians of NRK, which follows the installation of three radical Isalmists on a farm in Norway to prepare a terrorist attack ... A plan thwarted thanks to the interference and "the reception open and warm of the inhabitants ”.

A series in 8x45 minutes "transgressive, crazy and quite pleasing".

It will be necessary to wait until 2022 to see the Icelandic series

Blackport

, Grand Prix at Séries Mania, a UFO which tells about the privatization of fishing in Iceland in the 1980s and the strike in the sector.

Under the guise of a forbidding local and technical issue, this generous social chronicle gradually turns into a ferocious farce on capitalism, at the confluence of the influences of the unclassifiable Aki Kaurismäki and the Cohen brothers.

An astonishing fresco on the neoliberal revolution in the West not to be missed under any circumstances!
