A professor of faith at Al-Azhar raises controversy with “shocking” statements about suicide

The professor of faith and philosophy at Al-Azhar University has sparked a wide wave of controversy, after statements that were considered “shocking” about suicide against the background of the “City Stars Mall Girl” incident that shook Egypt.

Dr. Amna Nassir told “Cairo 24” that “the suicide bomber in general is not an infidel because he died on his religion, but he is ungrateful and despairs of God’s mercy,” pointing out that being away from family is one of the reasons for suicide among young people.

And it was that "City Stars Nasr Mall" in Cairo witnessed a suicide accident of a girl who threw herself from a high floor.

Investigations by the mabahith office indicated that the girl committed suicide due to family disputes and problems, as she was suffering from a psychological crisis that prompted her to leave her family's home about 6 hours before her death.
