The prefectures of Hérault and Gard have taken two different decisions on wearing a mask outside.

The indicators relating to the evolution of the coronavirus epidemic being "on the decline" in the Hérault, the mask is no longer mandatory outside since Thursday, with the exception of areas with high population density, "Since the maintenance of physical distancing cannot be ensured", indicates the prefecture.

This is the case with markets, gatherings or around schools.

Access to the department's three shopping centers of more than 20,000 m2 (Grand Sud in Lattes, Auchan Méditerranée in Pérols and Auchan Cap Occitan in Béziers) will also no longer be subject to the presentation of a health pass from Friday.

The mask still compulsory outside in the Gard

In the Gard, on the other hand, a department bordering Hérault, the prefecture decided on Wednesday to maintain the wearing of the compulsory mask outside, except on the beaches and on the banks of the bathing areas.

And this, indicates the prefecture, "with regard to the data which underline the viral circulation of the Covid-19".

The incidence rates are relatively similar in the two departments: 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over seven days in the Hérault on Wednesday, and 149 in the Gard, against 99 on average in France.

Hospital pressure, on the other hand, is higher in the Gard: 65% on Wednesday, against 52% in the Hérault.
