Is France on the right track in its fight against the coronavirus?

It would seem in view of the latest figures from Public Health France.

The number of Covid-19 patients and those in critical care fell again on Thursday, with also a positivity rate at the lowest since mid-July.

The critical care services that treat the most serious cases have 1,952 people, including 103 admitted in the last 24 hours, against 1,959 the day before.

This figure fell below the 2,000 patient mark on Wednesday for the first time since August 17.

9,297 patients are currently hospitalized against 9,555 on Wednesday.

The disease killed 65 people in 24 hours (79 the day before) bringing the total death toll to 115,894 since the start of the epidemic.

A clear improvement

Contamination figures have further improved, with 8,128 new cases recorded against 10,969 a week ago.

The positivity rate, which measures the proportion of positive cases in relation to the number of people tested, is also down, to 1.8%, the lowest level since July 17 (1.6%).

In terms of vaccines, since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 49,915,552 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 74% of the total population) and 47,222,749 people now have a complete vaccination schedule, which represents 67% of the total population.
