On the morning of the 16th, the Sichuan Earthquake Administration held a press conference.

Du Bin, deputy director of the Sichuan Earthquake Administration, said that the Sichuan Earthquake Administration organized experts to conduct emergency analysis consultations with the Monitoring and Prediction Department of China Earthquake Administration, Chongqing Earthquake Administration and other units.

According to comprehensive analysis of regional structural characteristics, historical seismic activity levels, and seismic sequence characteristics, experts believe that the possibility of a larger earthquake in the region in the near future is unlikely, but aftershocks will continue for a period of time, and attention should be paid to the prevention of subsequent aftershocks.

The seismic fortification intensity in the area near the epicenter is 6 to 7 degrees, and it is unlikely that subsequent earthquakes will cause serious damage to buildings.
