Elton John has postponed part of his European farewell tour that would take place this year until 2023. The singer recently fell and suffered a hip injury.

He has to go under the knife for this, he says in a statement.

John would visit the Sportpaleis in Antwerp in October of this year with the

Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour

These shows have now been moved to May 27 and 28, 2023.

"At the end of my summer vacation I had a hard fall and since then I have had a lot of pain in my hip," says the 74-year-old singer.

"Despite intensive physiotherapy and specialized treatment, the pain has continued to worsen and it has become increasingly difficult to move. I was advised to undergo surgery as soon as possible in order to make a full recovery and avoid long-term complications."

John's remaining tour dates for 2021, in which he would also visit other parts of Europe and the United Kingdom in addition to Antwerp, have all been moved to 2023. The singer will perform again in the United States from the beginning of 2022.

From May 2022, he will do another part of his European tour, which has not been postponed.

On June 9, 2022, he will be in the GelreDome in Arnhem.
