The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) announced the launch of the “Sharjah Gateway Challenge” initiative, in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth, to support emerging companies specialized in the creative sectors in the Middle East and North Africa region, in conjunction with the adoption of 2021 by the United Nations as the “International Year of the Economy” Creative for sustainable development.

The challenge, supported by strategic partners, targets companies operating in the creative industries sector, which have a fully developed product, or an innovative idea that adds new concepts to the business culture, as the areas that fall under the challenge include: heritage, performing arts, festive festivals, audiovisual arts, handicrafts, and media. 10 companies will be selected for the short list based on a set of criteria, namely: “To be a productive company with sufficient revenues, to adopt the implementation of successful solutions from its own innovation, for the founder to work in his company himself, and to be headquartered in the Middle East and North Africa region. The companies are on the short list to present their projects to a specialized committee during the next session of the (Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival), so that the two winning companies will be selected.”

The two winning companies will receive a prize of $50,000 each, $15,000 of it in cash, and the remaining amount will be allocated to legal and commercial business registration in the Emirate of Sharjah, providing office space, legal consultancy costs and media marketing, in addition to providing the opportunity to implement their projects with the Sharjah Museums Authority.
