Dune

Denis Villeneuve's fantasy film Dune, based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, has become one of the most anticipated premieres of 2021. The action of the picture unfolds in the distant future: people live on different planets and are fighting for resources and power. The planet Arrakis, where the melange necessary for space travel is mined, is taken over by the Atreides family, but the past owners are not ready to put up with the loss of access to such a valuable substance and are planning a military coup. Paul (Timothy Chalamet), the young heir to the Atreides, is destined to confront them.

In early September, the film was shown at the Venice Film Festival.

Critics mostly greeted the film favorably, noting its scale, coherent plot, well-thought-out storytelling and strong cast - along with Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Zenday, Rebecca Ferguson and other famous artists starred in the film.

However, among the experts there were also those who considered the tape too superficial and did not reflect the full depth of Herbert's ideas.
