Fans of Idris Elba,

Luther

, or both (chances are, if you're a fan of one you'll be a fan of the other), rejoice: London's most tortured and obsessive detective is going to do his return.

And on the big screen!

Netflix, which streams the BBC series on its platform, made the surprise announcement on Twitter.

And the main actor will not be alone.

"Idris Elba will reprise his iconic role - joined by Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis - in a new feature film written by series creator Neil Cross," read the post.

Mysteries

Few details have filtered out on this new opus of Luther's adventures.

We simply know that this time, the investigator will be confronted with two "enemies".

A rival detective, played by Cynthia Erivo, and the "bad guy" of the story, who will be played by Andy Serkis.

Luther

has been a total hit for the BBC since the first season, which aired in 2010. The five seasons have received almost unanimous critical acclaim.

The program has earned its star countless nominations, as well as five major award wins, including a trophy at the Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2016.

Idris Elba has never hidden his desire to play Luther on the big screen, so his wish is about to come true.

The only unknown: the presence or not of Ruth Wilson, who plays the Machiavellian and brilliant Alice Morgan in four of the five seasons.

Supposedly dead at the end of the last one, her body was not found ...
