The decision of the Ministry of Education to eliminate by decree the ESO recovery exams, between 12 and 16 years of age, obliges the autonomous communities to stop taking this test.

Formerly it was scheduled in September, after a summer in which the student who had failed was preparing to recover the subject, and lately they were mostly held at the end of June.

But the new pedagogy that animates the educational reforms of both Celaá and

Castells, enemies of merit and effort

, prioritize the child's feeling over their intellectual preparation or willpower

.

So now the criterion must be oriented, where appropriate, to take measures before the bad grade occurs, and the number of pending subjects will not be taken into account, in order to allow the student to pass the course.

So

You can pass the course directly, without having to pass

the extraordinary call, if the professors so consider it in a collegiate way.

The autonomies of the PP and the Basque Country have expressed their opposition to the umpteenth attack on the meritocracy promoted by Sánchez.

Galicia announces that it will resort to the rule - it is not clear that it is legal to apply it to a course that has already started - and Madrid, Andalusia and Castilla y León will counteract its harmful effects in the use of their powers.

The socialist regions argue that the June call did not work well, so close to the ordinary course, but to overcome this dysfunction it would be enough to return to the September calls.

The real reason is that

the left does not believe in a model of excellence and knowledge

but of aptitudes and skills;

it has been convinced that the exam stigmatizes the failing student, which is why an imprecise system of continuous evaluation would be preferable.

But when the exams are liquidated, not only the disappointment of suspense disappears, but also the prize of the outstanding: the incentive for self-improvement.

This process of equalization from below will mainly harm the most humble students

, who lack the socio-economic resources to compensate for their poor preparation in the labor market.

It is revealing that the Government does not dare to extend its counterproductive goodness to the Baccalaureate, suppressing the exams there too.

The suspicion that they only pursue

make up the humiliating figures of school failure

, which are concentrated in the ESO age group, is inevitable.

But in this way they not only betray the future of the students but also avoid their educational responsibility to transfer it to middle and higher education, which is accessed by students without the minimum level that until recently was assumed for a university aspirant.

From this general degradation of educational quality, not only present and future generations will be affected, but also Spanish competitiveness as a whole, which explains our

bloody youth unemployment figures

.

But it is known that the Government that data still falls short.
