The International Cybersecurity Forum, which took place on September 7, 8 and 9 in Lille, brought together researchers, politicians, government agencies and captains of industry from around the world.

Cybersecurity and digital solidarity between European states formed the bulk of the debates.

Whether you are a private individual, a company or a government agency, nothing and no one escapes the

The 2021 edition of

the International Cybersecurity Forum

was therefore placed under the sign of digital solidarity between States, in order to curb the scourge of cybercrime.

The future French presidency of the European Union, in January 2022, will play a role of "catalyst" to federate the national initiatives of the euro zone which will go in this direction.

Cybersecurity will be at the heart of the concerns of the Council of the EU in the coming months

", indicates Guillaume Poupard, director general of

the National Agency for the Security of Information Systems

(ANSSI), questioned by our colleague Romain Mielcarek.

Today, the question is no longer whether our digital information systems are threatened, but rather whether to be able to counter attacks effectively. In France, we have solid capacities, both state and industrial, which allow us to thwart these hostile intrusions. But if our means of action remain at the purely national level, then these countermeasures will ultimately prove ineffective. Remember that we are dealing with the same hackers as other EU countries. This is the reason why we must unite at the level of the euro zone. At the start of next year, France, which will take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union, represents a real opportunity to send a strong message, by proposing common regulations, which will offer critical sectors of the economy and EU institutions the opportunity to protect themselves even better than today. This cooperative and collaborative cybersecurity between countries, which is not yet in place, does not for the moment make it possible to help a Union partner who would be in difficulty. In addition, our joint actions are not yet well established and the legislative and technical mechanisms which would allow us to intervene are limited. But the realization that together, we would be stronger, is there, and the pooling of our capacities to fight cybercrime will be a very strong marker of the French presidency of the Council of the European Union. This cooperative and collaborative cybersecurity between countries, which is not yet in place, does not currently allow us to help a Union partner who is in difficulty. Most of the discussions at the International Cybersecurity Forum focused on the development of the arrangements to be put in place in the event of a major incident or crisis in the EU cyber space.

Forum experts advocate closer cooperation between Member States, with the strengthening of obligations to protect companies' information systems, or even the creation of an IT security Airbus.

However, many steps will be necessary before realizing this "common program" capable of deterring the most experienced cybercriminals, who shamelessly loot all our data.
