"With each wave, we jump with a different wish"

Born in West Africa, Yoruba culture can be found today throughout the Caribbean and South America, where it arrived with the slaves.

“Everyone is dressed in white, we throw flowers as offerings into the sea, and we jump the first seven waves of the year,” Hollysiz describes of the ritual.

“With each wave, we jump with both feet and make a different wish each time,” says the artist.

Seven wishes sent to Lemanja by the singer, which the goddess seems to have heard.

"It turns out that the first time I did this, all seven wishes came true, pretty much, within the year."
