Recommendation for pregnant and lactating women to be vaccinated against “Corona” in Germany

The Permanent Immunization Committee in Germany (Stico) recommended that pregnant and breastfeeding women be vaccinated against Corona in general.

And the Robert Koch Institute for Disease Control announced, yesterday, that the vaccination committee recommended “after consultations and an extensive evaluation of the available evidence” to give two doses of a vaccine developed with messenger RNA technology (mRNA) to pregnant women in the second trimester of pregnancy and breastfeeding women.

The recommendation in force so far has been limited to giving the vaccine to pregnant women who have a history of disease, and therefore their risk of suffering severe courses of the disease if they are infected with the Corona virus, increases.

It is expected that the new draft recommendation will be approved by the German states, as well as experts specialized in this field.
