At the Sasebo Post Office in Nagasaki Prefecture, where a cluster of new coronaviruses occurred, all the people in charge of collection and delivery were confirmed to be infected or became close contacts and could not go to work.

Japan Post Kyushu Branch says that due to this effect, delivery of regular mail may be delayed by up to a week.

At the Sasebo Post Office in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, 14 people have been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus, and the city has determined that a group of infected people = a cluster has occurred.

According to the Japan Post Kyushu Branch, the Sasebo Post Office usually carries out collection and delivery operations with a system of about 70 people, but due to the outbreak of clusters, all the persons in charge were confirmed to be infected or became close contacts. It means that you can no longer go to work.

This is the first time in Japan that all post office pick-up and delivery staff cannot go to work due to the effects of the new coronavirus.

The Sasebo Post Office continues to collect and deliver support staff from nearby post offices, but since September 6, it has delivered regular mail to approximately 28,000 households, including in the city center. There are some effects such as pausing.

In the future, delivery may be delayed for up to a week, and it is expected that it will take about a month for the collection and delivery business to return to normal.
