After the tribute ceremony Thursday, the funeral of Jean-Paul Belmondo took place Friday at the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris.

Between 250 to 300 guests were expected, all relatives of the actor who died on Monday, September 6 at the age of 88.

The emblematic actor of French cinema died this Monday, September 6 at the age of 88.

The day after the national homage to the Invalides, the actor's funeral took place at the Saint-Germain-des-Prés church.

They were celebrated in family intimacy despite the crowd of fans who gathered around.

"We drove three and a half hours"

In the heart of a very compact crowd waiting in front of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés church, there are many fans frustrated at having had to follow the ceremony at the Invalides the day before behind a screen. Stéphane chose to make up for it this Friday. He arrived among the first this morning. "We come from near Angers. We left this morning at 5:30 am. We have driven three and a half hours. For me, it is a duty to come here. I have heard a lot of testimonies. the minimum that I can do to him. I did not see myself not coming, "he says.

The members of Bébél's family arrived in the utmost silence.

One by one, her daughter, her grandson Victor were present.

In the crowd, we notice Nathalie dressed in black under the emotion.

She struggles to look at the hearse.

"It's even harder. I was at the Invalides. I didn't cry. And there, I think I'm devastated. Me, I was born in 1961. It's 60 years of my life," explains she says, her throat tied.

Fans stand on tiptoe so as not to miss the arrival of stars like Jean Dujardin, Claude Lelouch and Alain Delon, who came with a cane, but smiling under the applause of the public.

At 11 a.m., the coffin was taken to the church.

"I have the impression of seeing someone from my family leave," says Fabien, another fan.

"It's a moment of emotion. We feel he is really going. We see him go. We will never see him again except on television," he said with a sigh. 

The ceremony was followed by a cremation, this time in the strictest family privacy.
