Gérald Marie,

former European executive director of the Elite modeling agency, is under investigation by the Paris prosecutor's office following accusations leveled against him by dozens of women, mostly models.

Although most would have prescribed, it is on the ropes.

According to his complaints, this executive took advantage of his position (and therefore his position of power) in the prestigious modeling agency to

sexually abuse and rape dozens of young women

who began their careers during the 80s and 90s. Paris invited them to parties and, they have declared, told them that if they wanted to be successful, they should give them

"something in return."

It also so happens that Marie, in some of the years in which it is being investigated, was married to the supermodel

Linda Evangelista,

one of the great tops of the 90s, known for her chameleon ability.

Specifically, they were husband and wife between 1987 and 1993.

And she herself has come out in defense of these young women: "Based on my own experiences, I think they

are telling the truth.

It breaks my heart because they may never be cured, and I admire their courage and strength to speak out today."

MINORS

The accusations leveled against Marie, currently 71 years old and living in Ibiza, are not only for rape and sexual assault, but also for rape and sexual assault against

minors.

The last, the model

Carré Otis,

who denounced him last August for raping her when she was 17 years old.

Along with her name, that of many others, at that time young women who dreamed of getting on the international catwalks: Jill Dodd, Ebba Karlsson, Karen Mulder ...

Marie and what was then his wife, the top Linda Evangelista.

"I have worked diligently with other brave souls in recent months to push for truth and justice. I am grateful to my sisters who found their lion heart, their warrior legs, and stood with me behind the curtain fighting a very dark force." Otis has written.

And Jill Dodd, for her part, has declared: "We were so young. I encourage you to risk a path to healing by talking about sexual abuse. Share it with someone you trust and start the path to freedom. I am talking openly about

having been raped by my agent, Gérald Marie, in Paris. "

COMMITTED TOPS

Fortunately, they are not alone.

There are many great models of yesterday that are positioning themselves in their favor.

Carla Bruni,

former first lady of France, has spoken alongside

Milla Jovovich and Paulina Porizkova

in 'The New York Times'.

"Much remains to be done in France and the rest of the world to ensure that women are protected against sexual violence in their workplace," said the Italian, now a singer.

And Porizkova adds fuel to the fire with these words:

"They taught us to see sexual harassment as a compliment."

THE RUSSIAN SEX ROULETTE

But it was not only fellow professionals who have come to the aid of the complainants.

Lebanese businessman Omar Harfouch, who worked at Elite at the time, uncovered to the French police a dangerous game that Marie and other colleagues were spending their time on: a

competition to see which of them had sex with more models.

In addition, more points were obtained the younger the victim was.

"And if they were virgins, more points. At the end of each fashion week they compared each other" their scores, he declared.

The alleged sexual predator, Gérald Marie, spoke of these accusations from his Ibiza refuge: "From #MeToo my destruction is being promoted without

any consistent

evidence to support it."

Justice will tell.
