Each Saudi citizen wastes approximately 184 kilograms of food annually, according to official statistics, published by local newspapers, which costs the state more than 40 billion riyals annually.

And the Saudi channel stated in a report that 33% of food is wasted annually in the Kingdom, according to a field study conducted by the General Grain Corporation, which targeted 19 food commodities that were divided into 8 groups.

The high rate of food wastage stressed the importance of reaching an effective mechanism to reduce food waste annually, including raising consumer awareness, achieving a balance in purchasing, and remembering the value of food and the sanctity of waste.
