Shizuoka Prefecture and others announced on the 9th that it was confirmed that 173 people were infected with the new coronavirus.
The cumulative number of confirmed infections in the prefecture is 25,092.
The prefecture and Hamamatsu City also announced that five patients had been confirmed dead.
This brings the number of people who have died in the prefecture to 193.
